On-Site Safety & Compliance Audits

The ARG/US audit is a true "Process" and "Systems" audit that verifies that the flight operation is managed, organized, and run consistent with industry best practices and reflects a clear commitment to safety.

Focusing on all pertinent areas of the organization from maintenance to flight operations the non-intrusive ARG/US On-Site Safety Audit provides a method to gain an objective insight into all segments of an operation. ARG/US provides audits tailored for U.S. Part 91, 135, and 121 operators, as well as operators based internationally. For U.S. charter operators, passing the ARG/US audit can result in one of two ratings. Gold Plus is awarded to an operator that has been found to have effective and documented policies and procedures which should be conducive to safe future operations. The highest rating for Part 135 air carriers, the ARG/US Platinum Rating is awarded to an operator who has demonstrated the implementation of industry best practices including a Safety Management System, a workable Emergency Response Plan, and appropriate written standards, training, and adequate historical records for all major aspects of Operations and Maintenance within the company.

Regardless of the operation type, the survey team starts each safety audit by compiling a vast amount of information about the operator, including data from the ARG/US CHEQ system, if applicable. The research provides a solid starting point for the most comprehensive safety audit in the industry.

Utilizing the specifics of any applicable contract, the provisions of the applicable regulations, and their own experience as safety inspectors, the survey team will evaluate an operator's ability to perform for their customers and their passengers. The survey also can include, with the operator's coordination, observation of cockpit crew performance, as well as ramp inspections of selected company aircraft.

The ARG/US on-site audit requirements are neither all-inclusive nor inflexible. They describe concepts by which the operators are expected to function, not the specifics of how management should implement these systems. All operators are expected to demonstrate compliance with applicable regulations, as a minimum. Adherence to the ARG/US requirements will vary with the size and scope of the operation and the sophistication of it's management structure.

The goal at ARG/US is not simply to pour through an operator's records, gathering data to be analyzed by a computer. Nor do we duplicate the efforts of governmental agencies responsible for regulatory compliance. Rather, we recognize that each operator's mission, management style, and corporate culture are unique. We examine each operator for consistency in meeting its own objectives, as well as the applicable regulations and customer contract specifications.
